William Duncanson
With a passion for sustainability-focused design and a deep love for architecture, William, Principal at BAR Architecture & Interiors and Partner at Swell, has 25 years of diverse project design experience. William's influence reaches from the Bay Area to Indonesia and the Dominican Republic, particularly in the realm of surf hospitality and artificial surf environments, as showcased in projects such as DSRT Surf version 1.0 and Los Vientos. William contributes to Swell's capabilities with regards to design, construction management and programming.
Eugenio Mendoza
Eugenio is a principal at Swell International. He is an accomplished executive with a transformative leadership style and diverse industry experience, most recently served as Head of LatAm Business Development at Alpen Spitz Handel SA, specializing in innovative solutions for the global commodity market. As Executive Vice President at CEO Advisors, he directed corporate strategy and operations, excelling in managing cross-cultural relationships and driving P&L excellence. Additionally, as Co-Founder & GM of Ruji Naturals LLC, he successfully launched and managed a premium superfood dog product startup, quickly achieving profitability targets and expanding multinational supply chains.
Ryder Thomas
Ryder is a partner at Swell the founder of Pegasus Lodges, a global hospitality management company specializing in remote surfing destinations. Previously, Ryder led acquisitions as a Partner at Makai Ventures, a U.S.-based private equity manager focused on emerging and undervalued beachfront real estate assets in Southeast Asia and Brazil. Prior to Makai, he was an investment banker in the Financial Sponsors Group of Houlihan Lokey, a leading international investment bank, where he advised hedge funds on financial restructurings, mergers and acquisitions, capital markets transactions, and complex valuations across industry verticals.
Mari Lopez Pulido
Mari is a principal at Swell International. Prior to her tenure at Swell, Mari achieved success as an entrepreneur, developer, and real estate agent, cultivating a deep understanding of the industry and a fervent dedication to creating enduring value. At the age of just 21, she co-founded Pop Up Mob, an experiential pop-up business based in New York, which she successfully exited in December 2017. Following this, Mari transitioned to Lima, Peru, where she assumed the roles of principal and VP of Marketing at Solitaire Partners, playing a pivotal role in a $2.4 million land reclamation project and establishing critical partnerships in the luxury real estate development sector.
Kui Nakamura
Kui is a partner at Swell and has been engaged in corporate and project finance, capital raising, and business strategy for private equity firms and family offices. His experience spans several industries and has involved portfolio companies, infrastructure and development projects around the world. Over his investment career, Kui has executed or advised on over $9 billion of principal investments. Prior to Swell, he was Executive Partner with Siris Capital Group and its predecessor group managing the private investments of Point 72. In conjunction with these platforms, he served on the Board of Directors and as Strategic Committee Chairman at publicly-traded KGI Bank and as Director of Corporate Development for Airvana Inc., a leading mobile technology company.
